Abstract

1,073,549. Cradles for lifting packs of bricks. AUDAX Ltd. March 17, 1966 [March 24, 1965], No. 12521/65. Heading B8H. To lift a plurality of packs of bricks, each of which is banded together by wires, a lifting device 1 is moved up behind the packs so that the corners of the bands are engaged by forwardly directed fingers 9. The packs are raised slightly and a lever 15 is operated to withdraw a pin 14 from a hole (11), Fig. 5, (not shown) so that a frame (5) of the device may be tilted by means of handles 18. After the load has been raised further the pin 14 is again withdrawn and the device is tilted further and locked in the position illustrated in Fig. 6 (not shown), so that the weight of the bricks is entirely supported by the frame (5) rather than by the binding wires.
