Abstract
1,072,746. Counterbalancing. D. F. BINNS. March 18, 1966 [March 20, 1965], No. 11921/65. Heading B8B. [Also in Division G1) In one form (Fig. 7) of an apparatus for measuring voltage in terms of the length of a spark gap between relatively movable electrodes (see Division G1), one of the electrodes is mounted above the other and has its weight counterbalanced by springs.' The lower electrode supports the upper through a linkage system consisting of the two pairs of arms shown, which are hinged at their junctions. The counterbalancing springs (not shown) are inside the upper (spherical) electrode and are secured to it. They act on the upper two arms, which also project into the sphere and have a hinged anchorage within it.
