Abstract

Pharmaceutically active aluminium compounds as claimed in Specification 888,666 in which the pharmaceutically active material is salicylic acid or a substituted salicylic acid, are prepared by reacting the starting materials in a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent or a combination of solvents including a chlorinated hydrcarobon, in which the final product is soluble, e.g. chloroform or methylene chloride. The rate of reaction may be limited by stearic acid, oleic acid, stearyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol ceto-stearyl alcohol, castor oil or benzoic acid.
