Abstract

1,071,415. Borehole logging apparatus. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. Nov. 20, 1963 [Jan. 10, 1963], No. 1166/63. Headings G1A and G1N. A sonde for traversing a borehole containing a conductive fluid comprises resistivity logging means constituted by a plurality of electrodes whereby a number of depths of penetration may be investigated, a spontaneous potential measuring arrangement for determining the conductivity of the borehole fluid, porosity determining apparatus which may be of the neutron gamma, gamma-gamma or acoustic type, and multiplied signalling equipment for the transmission of data to the surface. The apparatus in the sonde is protected from the radio-active source by a lead screen. The porosity determining apparatus may be acoustic and may comprise an acoustic impulse transmitter and a pair of spaced receivers.
