Abstract
1,069,719. Valves. ECLIPSE FUEL ENGINEERING CO. Oct. 30, 1964, No. 44426/64. Heading F2V. In a manually resettable automatic shut-off valve e.g. for terminating the supply of fuel to a gas- or oil-fired boiler, operable upon failure of an associated electrical circuit, closure 26 upon stem 28 is held in the open position, against spring 64, by a yoke 100 which is locked in position by the over-centre engagement of a pin 114 and slot 112 connection to a crank arm 116 operated by handle 224 and to which knock out arms 122 are pivoted whereby shoulders thereupon engage under rollers 154 fixedly supported by the stem 28. The arms 122 are each urged to the engaged position by a torsion spring 140, connected at one end to an upstanding arm 142 of member 100 and are operatively engaged with rollers 154 in slight over-centre position permitted by contact of a cross arm 128 therewith. Upon failure of an associated electrical circuit a solenoid is de-energized permitting displacement of a plunger (174) (Fig. 7, not shown) by a coil spring (194) and the engagement of the arms of a U-shaped impact head (124) thereof with extensions (130) of the knock-out arms (122) which are pivoted out of engagement with the rollers (154) to permit closure of the valve. An upstanding arm (142) of the yoke acts as a stop for the U- shaped head until lowered with the yoke (100), upon rotation of the handle (224), for re-engagement of arms (122) under the rollers (154), and the plunger (174) thereafter obstructs the return of the upstanding arm (142), and hence the yoke (100) and re-opening of the valve, until the solenoid is re-energized by the electrical circuit.
