Abstract

1,068,821. Gamma-ray bore-hole logging. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. Nov. 20, 1963 [Jan.10, 1963], No.1163/63. Heading G1A. 61 a bore-hole logging apparatus, pulses from a gamma-ray detector are classified by a multichannel pulse height analyzer, the outputs of which are sampled sequentially to produce time multiplexed pulses position modulated according to the channel outputs. The time multiplexed pulses are transmitted to surface equipment where they are demodulated and applied to a multichannel recorder. A radio-active neutron source may be provided or. the gamma rays detected may be from naturally occurring radioactive material in the bore walls. The detector may be sodium iodide scintillator coupled to a photo-multiplier connected to a linear pulse amplifier.
