Abstract

1,068,681. Turbine and compressor blade mounting. BRISTOL SIDDELEY ENGINES Ltd. May 4, 1964 [May 2, 1963], No. 17396/63. Heading F1T. Axial flow turbine, compressor, or pump blades (11) are secured in parallel sided axially and radially extending slots (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), in the rim of the rotor disc 1 by hollow, circular section, split, retaining rings 13, 14 passing through holes in portions of the blade roots (10) projecting past radially inner ends of the slots (7), the rings 13, 14 co-operating with curved surfaces 5A, 6A of the disc rim portions 2, 3 respectively. Each ring 13, 14 is locked circumferentially by a tab 15 bolted in the split of the ring. The blades have limited freedom of movement in the circumferential direction to pivot about fulcra (10A), rings 13, 14 effecting vibration damping. Additional lacing wires 11B may also be provided for vibration damping. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown) the retaining rings (17) are solid of semi-circular section having flat radially inner surfaces (17A) cooperating with the flat radially outer surfaces (18A) of semi-circular section bearing bushes (18) mounted in the holes in the blade roots.
