Abstract
1,067,697. Broaching; welding by pressure. H. A. SCHLATTER A.G. Nov. 19, 1964 [Nov. 21, 1963], No. 47072/64. Headings B3L and B3R. Apparatus for removing weld burrs from railway rails and other bars of constant section comprises a frame carrying a number of blades 3, 4, 5 one of which is movable to a withdrawn position and a guide means for the bar. The blade 5 is clamped so that its upper edge 5a is aligned with a guide surface 111. The blade 3 and a guide block 30 are adjustably clamped to a slide 31 which is moved to operative position by fluid-pressure means 37 acting through a crank 35, a gear sector 34 and rack-teeth 33. The blades 4 are similarly actuated by fluid pressure means. In operation, one rail to be welded extends through the apparatus, engaging rollers 21. When the clamping jaws 6 of the upsetting slide of the welding machine have been released, the de-burring machine is pushed along the rail being supported on the rollers 21. The machine is then clamped by the jaws 6. The deburring blades are then advanced and the upsetting slide is traversed to carry the blades over the welded joint. In a modified operation, the rail is gripped by the upsetting carriage and forced through the de-burring machine.
