Abstract

[Also in Divisions F2 and H2] An arrangement for clamping at least one wire comprises a rigid conducting member 4 with grooves 4B and 4C in which the wire or wires can rest, a resilient washer 8 having, in its unstressed condition, two integral divergent portions obliquely set with respect to each other, each having edge portions 9 and 10 also divergent with respect to each other but at a lesser angle than the first portions, and a screw 12 for pressing the washer towards the rigid member to trap the wire or wires between the washer and the rigid member. The washer is of such a size as to extend over the surface of the rigid member and overhang its edges. When the wires 2 and 3 are of relatively small size, the edge portions 9 and 10 engage the edges of the rigid member 4, so that rotation of the washer is prevented. When the wires are relatively large, rotation of the washer is prevented by engagement of the edge portions 9 and 10 with the wires themselves.
