Abstract
1,067,279. Light guides. BROWN BOVERI & CO. Ltd. Dec. 17, 1963 [Feb. 8, 1963], No.49739/63. Heading G2J. Coherent radiation at a frequency of at least 1 Tc/s is propagated as a free beam along a tube at least partly lined with reflective material. The material may be inserted whilst the tube is being drawn or may be inserted afterwards through longitudinal or spiral slits; it may then be arranged in spiral strips which may overlap. Alternatively, a coating substance may be introduced through holes in the tube. The tube may be of rectangular or regular polygonal crosssection. A number of straight tubular sections may be used together with reflective devices where they meet at an angle. Several beams of different frequencies may be used and semitransmissive reflectors may be used as filters for separating the beams.
