Abstract

Discharging.-Coke &c. deposited from retorts upon the shoot 2 is delivered in measured quantity to the buckets 6 of a conveyor or elevator by means of a rotary valve 7, Fig. 3, actuated by a cam 14 on the shaft 15 driving the conveyer. The valve 7 comprises a quadrant f, nr semi-cylindrical part, and two arms d, d<1> mounted on a shaft 9 which is connected by gears 8, 10 to a shaft 11 carrying an arm 12 which bears against the cam 14. The material passes to the buckets through a hopper 5 preferably having two mouths, the length of each of which is slightly less than the length of a bucket and the width considerably less.
