Abstract
A zeolitic molecular sieve having the A type of crystalline structure and effective pore diameter of 3 <\>rA is prepared by (a) forming a mixture of sodium aluminate or aluminium oxide, sodium waterglass or silicic acid sol., sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and water, the constitution of the mixture in terms of mole ratios of oxides being given by Na2O+K2O/Al2O3=2.08-85, SiO2/Al2O3=0.065-14, H2O/Al2O3=250-1540 and Na2O/Na2O+K2O=0.05-0.99, and (b) heating the mixture at 50-100 DEG C. for at least half an hour, preferably 7-20 hours. The crystals are filtered off, washed until the pH of the wash water is between 9 and 11 and dried. The formula of the dehydrated product is expressed as (0.9\sB0.1)[XNa2O+(1 - X)K20].Al2O3 (1.92\sB0.1)SiO2 X having a value between 0.05 and 0.99.
