Abstract

The useful properties of unsubstituted polyphenyl ethers (or mixtures thereof) of formula <FORM:1065831/C2/1> where x is a whole number from 1 to 6, are improved by treating the polyphenyl ether, per se or in a minor amount of a solvent, with alumina. The treated polyphenyl ethers exhibit improved colour and resistance to oxidative deterioration and decreased tendency to corrode metals. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 886,978.
