1,065,481. Magnetic write-read heads. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 1, 1965 [March 4, 1964], No. 8640/65. Heading G5R. Apart from the usual silver-ferrite-silver screening sandwich 10, 11, 12 between the write element 2 and the read element 3, cross-talk is further reduced by so proportioning the tapeguide faces of the elements that their lengths in the direction of tape travel are both 4: 1 and both face the same way, provided that the ferrite screening member 11 is magnetically grounded to the overall head-screen (not shown). The analysis leading to this geometry is given in " Some theoretical investigations about the suppression of cross-talk between magnetic heads to be used in magnetic-tape memory systems," by J. A. Geurst, a paper in the I.E.E. publication " International Conference on Magnetic Recording," London, July 1966.
