Abstract
1,064,668. Block filters. BENDIX CORPORATION. July 8, 1964 [Sept. 5, 1963], No. 28168/64. Heading B1D. A block filter comprises a corrugated ribbon 18 wound helically on edge with a thread 20 interposed between the convolutions. The ribbon may be paper or cellulose and is impregnated with phenol formaldehyde resin, and the thread may be stranded or twisted glass-fibre, nylon or cotton. In manufacture, the creped ribbon and thread are simultaneously wound to shape and the resin is then thermo - set, adjacent convolutions of ribbon bonding together to leave radial pores which are divided by individual strands of thread 20 into smaller pores (Fig. 4, not shown). The element is then cut to length, and may be used as a fuel filter (Fig. 1, not shown). Thread 20 may be close to the inner or outer surfaces of the filter, or in between, as shown.
