Abstract
1,063,775. Photographic cameras; exposure control systems. EASTMAN KODAK CO. March 13, 1964 [March 18, 1963 (2)], No.10640/64. Addition to 970, 289. Heading G2A. A camera has a photo-electric exposure control system including a galvanometer 11 whose moving element 13 is deflectable in a first direction as a function of the scene light intensity illuminating the photo-electric element 10, and a switch 12 for coupling the galvanometer for voltage testing purposes to a battery 18 which gives a deflection in an opposite second direction against an opposing spring. Resistor 19 represents the load at camera drive motor 20 which is connected to the battery by trigger switch 21, and resistors 22, 23 are used to adjust the galvanometer deflection. Member 13 has an aperture diaphragm vane 29 at one end and, at the other end, a scale 25 provided with exposure indicia 27 and battery potential indicia 28 corresponding to deflection in the two opposite directions against a fixed mark. Scale 25 projects into the axis 32 at the viewfinder. Alternatively, the scale may be fixed while the meter 11 has a moving pointer with a snap-action spring-loading giving a sudden increase in deflection if the battery potential enters the "GOOD" range. A magnetic spring arm is used for this purpose. In a modification, the battery is tested without disconnecting the photo-electric element whose small output is negligible by comparison with that of the battery and is over-ridden. The opposite deflection during battery testing is made against resisting spring means which may be helical, spiral, a cantilever, thereby decreasing the galvanometer sensitivity.
