Abstract
The invention comprises dialkylacetamidoethyl phosphorodithioate compounds of the formula <FORM:1062952/C2/1> wherein R and R1 each represent C1- 4 alkyl. They are prepared by reacting a dialkylphosphorodithioate compound of the formula (RO)(R1O)P(S)SM where M is an alkali metal atom or an ammonium group with a compound of the formula X-CH2-CH2-NH-CO-CH3 wherein X is chlorine, bromine or a methane- or 4-toluene-sulphonic acid residue. The reactants are generally mixed, preferably in equimolar amounts in an inert solvent such as a hydrocarbon, a hydrocarbon halogenide, an alcohol, an ether, a ketone, a nitrile or an ester, at a temperature between 40 DEG and 100 DEG C. for a period of 15 hours or less. The products have pesticidal, especially acaricidal, properties (see Division A5). 2-Acetamidoethyl methane- and 4-toluenesulphonates may be obtained by the reaction of 2 - acetamidoethanol with methanesulphonyl and 4-toluenesulphonyl chlorides respectively.ALSO:A pesticidal composition comprises an inert diluent and a compound of the formula: <FORM:1062952/A5-A6/1> wherein R and R\sv each represent C1-4 alkyl. The composition may be in the form of a dust, granules, an emulsifiable concentrate, a wettable powder or an aerosol.
