Abstract

1,062,425. Packages of rubber tyre treads. METZELER A.G. June 10, 1964 [Aug. 9, 1963], No. 24038/64. Headings B8C and B8P. Unvulcanized rubber tyre treads are wound on to a hollow core 4 (Fig. 1) and placed on a semi-cylindrical support 2 in a box. The support which may be cardboard, cloth or hard artificial foam lined with elastic artificial foam is either M-shaped as shown in Fig. 1 or U- shaped (Fig. 3, not shown) where it is secured to the side walls of the box. Alternatively the strip may be completely enclosed by two such supports. The hollow space 6 may be filled with polyester, or polystyrene, polyether or diisocyanate foam. A layer of artificial material may be applied to one surface of the windings of the rubber strip to prevent them adhering together.
