Abstract
The invention comprises piperazine derivatives of the general formula <FORM:1062337/C2/1> (wherein R represents a C1- 7 alkyl group) and acid addition salts thereof, and the preparation thereof by reacting 1-(3-methylphenyl)-piperazine or a metal salt thereof with a reactive ester of a 3-C1- 7 alkoxy-3-phenylpropanol, and, if desired, converting a resulting acid addition salt into the free compound or into another acid addition salt, or a resulting free compound into an acid addition salt, or, if desired, separating a resulting mixture of isomers into the single isomers. Pharmaceutical preparations comprise a compound of the general formula above or a physiologically tolerable acid addition salt thereof and a pharmaceutically suitable carrier for enteral, parenteral or topical administration. They have antihypertensive and diuretic activity.
