Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1061718/C2/1> wherein R1 is a cyclopropyl or cyclobutyl ring, X is O or S, one Y is Cl or F and the other is H, Cl, F or Me. The anilides are made by reacting a cyclopropane- or cyclobutane-carboxylic acid halide with the appropriately substituted aniline, while the thioanilides are made by reacting the anilides with P2S5, e.g. at 90-110 DEG C.ALSO:Herbicidal compounds have the formula <FORM:1061718/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 is a cyclopropyl or cyclobutyl ring, X is O or S, one Y is Cl or F and the other is H, Cl, F or Me. They are preferably used as compositions with an inert carrier and/or a surface active agent, e.g. emulsions, suspensions, solutions or solid compositions.
