A soil sterilant composition comprises: <FORM:1061649/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 represents phenyl p-chlorophenyl or thienyl and X represents hydrogen when R1 is thienyl and chlorine or thiocyanato when R1 is phenyl or p-chlorophenyl. The compositions may be formulated as dusts, granules, emulsions, wettable powders and solutions. Other fungicides e.g. pentachloronitrobenzene, thiram, captan or dichlone may be present.
