Abstract

1,060,577. Control of D.C. motors. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. June 16, 1964 [June 17, 1963], No. 24860/64. Heading H2J. A traction motor 17 is supplied from A.C. line 1 through auto transformer 3, transformer 6, and converter 8 comprising thyristors 9-12 and diodes 13-16. A converter 19 provides continuous control of field winding 18 in either direction, signals from current transformer 7 regulating the converter 19 so that the motor has a series characteristic during driving operation of the vehicle. For braking, the motor feeds power back to the A.C. source, the field excitation being adjusted to afford a constant torque characteristic, and tap changer 4 being positioned to restrict the voltage to a value which the thyristors can withstand in the forward direction.
