Abstract

1,060,152. Cam-operated switches. M.K. ELECTRIC Ltd. Nov. 7, 1963 [Nov. 7, 1962], No. 42102/62. Heading H2B. A ceiling switch has contact-operating cams mounted coaxially with the ratchet device which operates them. The base 2 is formed with projections 12, 13 which support a spindle 20. This has two cams 55, 56, rigidly fixed to it, which are rotated by an element 66, loosely mounted on the spindle but carrying spring- loaded plungers 63, 64 which act as pawls for co-operation with ratchet teeth formed on the adjacent faces of the cam members. An operating cord is attached to the element 66 and the latter is spring-loaded so that repeated pulls on the cord rock the element 66 and advance the cams 55, 56. These cams have indentations of alternating depth for co-operation with cam followers on contact-bridging members 10, 11 which are consequently alternately set in closed and open positions. Each member 10, 11 is spring-loaded so that at one end (44) it rocks on one fixed contact (40) while its other end (36) is urged towards a second fixed contact (35).
