Abstract
105,918. Blokhuis, J. K. F. Nov. 15, 1915, [Convention date]. Incandescent gas burners; burners, materials for. -In an inverted burner in which a magnesia burner mouth is screwed in or on a brass mixing- tube, the formation of copper and zinc sulphates on the screw threads of the burner tube is prevented by interposing a suitable lute or cement between the interengaging threads on the burner mouth and the mixing-tube, or by making the end of the mixing-tube of or covering it with a material which will resist the chemical action of the combustion gases. The lute may consist of powdered asbestos, aluminium powder, and waterglass, or of compositions comprising clay, china clay, magnesium, chamotte or the like. The covering material may consist of a plating of nickel, silver, or nickel alloy. The screw-threaded part may be made of silver, nickel, earthenware, or moulded silica. The Specification as open to public inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the following materials may be used as a lute or as a covering or for making the screw-threaded end of the burner tube:-Chromium, gold, cobalt, tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum, metals of the platinum group, enamel, glass, boracic acid, borax, or other fusible borates, anhydrous silicic acid, fusible silicates, aluminium oxide, and a mixture of asbestos fibre and borax. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
