1,058,750. Beverage making apparatus. DITCHBURN VENDING MACHINES Ltd. Dec. 9, 1965 [Dec. 12, 1964], No. 50667/64. Heading A4D. An open-topped brewing chamber 31 is swung into an inverted position, to strike abutment 48, thus moving plunger 35, to eject spent tea leaves or coffee grounds. The perforated head 34 may be replaced by an unperforated conical head (66) (Fig. 4, not shown). A part 40 of discharge tube 39 is journalled in casing 30 and carries a swivel plate (57) (Fig. 3, not shown) which is connected to a crank pin (54) and a tension spring (58) so as to be rotated back and forth through half a revolution for each full revolution of the crank pin (54). There is lost motion between the plate (57) and a connecting rod (53), under the action of spring (58), as the chamber 31 approaches either of its end positions.
