Abstract
1,057,218. Automatic exchange systems. STANDARD TELEPHONE & CABLES Ltd., and AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 1, 1965, No. 41737/65. Heading H4K. In an exchange employing stages A, B, C of matrix switches, e.g. of the reed relay type, in which the setting up of connections is supervised by control units 8, the incoming lines, both subscribers' lines and junctions, are scanned for calling conditions, and when such a condition is found an associated cyclic store 3 sends the identity of the line and of its class of service to an idle control unit 8. The latter with the aid of a route choice circuit 7 and marker 6 extends the calling line to a register 5, which in accordance with the dialled information it receives tells the control unit 8 of the requirements, and the connection is established with the aid of a route choice circuit 7 and a marker 6. The switching equipment may be sectionalized in the manner described in Specifications 989,336 and 999,945. The cyclic store 3 may scan subscribers' lines, incoming junctions and register terminations &c. at different rates, and may comprise an array of ring cores which deliver information in a 2-outof-5 code.
