Abstract

In a process for the production of modified monolayer lacquer coatings from film-forming resinous materials other than epoxy resins, such as cellulose esters and polyvinyl alcohol and ester derivatives, especially photo-polymerizable or photo polymerized lacquer coatings and etching masks with improved adhesive and mechanical strength and improved resistance to etching agents and solvents, such as acids, alkalies, fluorides and organic solvents, the lacquer coatings to be modified are treated consecutively or simultaneously with solutions of epoxy resin and of a hardener therefor. When the first coating is photo-polymerizable the epoxy resin and/or the hardener may be included in the developer. A suitable hardener is diethylene triamine or diaminodiphenylmethane.
