[Also in Division B5] A disc armature 26 for the motor of a tape recorder comprises outer layers 35, 36 and a similar intermediate layer 38 the layers having central apertures 34a, 34b and 34c respectively for mounting and the intermediate layer being provided with circular apertures symmetrically placed about the axis of rotation of the disc. The layers are preferably of glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin and are laminated together by epoxy resin cement. The disc carries printed circuit conductors and is rotatably mounted between an annular magnet 20, having poles 22 and radial gaps 24 and an annular polepiece 25. The shaft 12 carries a tachometer disc 32.
