Abstract
1,054,813. Spectrometric cells. INSTITUTE KHIMICHESKOI FIZIKI. Jan. 16, 1964, No. 2044/64. Heading G2J. Windows 5, such as of monocrystals of germanium transparent to infrared radiation, are attached to flexible walls 4 held at their outer edges between a plastics ring 1 and a pair of rings 2, to form a cell to which liquid may be introduced through a tube passing through ring 1. To vary the spacing of windows 5, a coarse adjustment knob 16 is rotated so that a pinion acts on a rack 18 rigid with a support 15 connected to one window 5 through a heat insulating ring 12 and heat transfer member 8. The knob 16 is mounted on a shoe 19, which guides the rack 18, the shoe 19 being rigid with a rod 21 urged by spring 24 against a roller 26 on a bell crank lever 27 pivoted to a block 22. On rotating a screw 32 by means of hand knobs, a nut 30 traverses a guide 33 and carries with it one end 29 of the lever 27 so that rod 21 moves slightly relative to block 22 to form a fine adjustment. The second window 5 is secured through heat transfer member 8 and ring 12 to support 14 carrying the block 22.
