Abstract
1,053,995. Magnesia-chrome refractories. CARBORUNDUM CO. Ltd. April 12, 1965 [April 10, 1964], No. 14868/64. Heading C1J. A raw batch for the production of magnesiachrome refractory bodies is produced by fusing a mixture of magnesia and chromia minerals or compounds to obtain a fusion of compositional range, by weight: cooling the fusion sufficiently rapidly to obtain a crystal size not more than 0À15 mm., and comminuting the fused material. The batch may then be graded and mixed in the fractions: 20-60% - “ inch + 8 B.S.S. 15-50% - 8 + 72 20-40% - 72 at least 20% having a grain size finer than 20 Á and at least 15% having a grain size finer than 10 Á, formed into shapes to a density at least 3.17 g/cc. and sintered at 1600‹ C. at least.
