Abstract
1,053,779. Dimethyl cyclobutane-1,2-dicarboxylate. KNAPSACK A.G. Oct. 28, 1965 [Oct. 31, 1964], No. 45671/65. Heading C2C. Dimethyl cyclobutane-1,2-dicarboxylate is obtained by hydrolysing 1,2-dicyanocyclobutane with H 2 SO 4 to obtain a diamide-sulphate, reacting the latter with MeOH, allowing the esterified mixture to cool to not more than 30‹ C. while adding water, separating the crude ester and distilling it.
