A tool for crimping a sleeve of synthetic plastics material surrounded by a metal sleeve to the end of a conduit, comprises a pair of pivoted jaws 9 movable towards one another to apply to the metal sleeve first forces acting in a given direction initially to compress the sleeve through straight, inner, working surfaces 22 of the jaws and a slide 8 arranged to be movable between the jaws subsequently to the application of the first forces, to apply to the metal sleeve second forces acting at right angles to the given direction to reduce the internal diameter of the connector in co-operation with curved, working surfaces 21 of the jaws. The jaws 9 are pivotally mounted on support plates 13 and have engaging stop faces 26. The slide 8 is connected by a pivot pin 15 at its lower end to one end of a pair of handles 16, which are also pivotable about the pin 15. The tails of the jaws are spring-biased against the slide 8. The slide has an arcuate working surface 10 which forms a circle with the arcuate surfaces 21 of the jaws when the stop surfaces 26 of the jaws are in engagement, the movement of the slide 8 towards the connector being limited by a slot 11 which receives a pin 12 on the body.
