[Also in Division C3] A catalyst useful in maturing polyesters comprises a Mg, Ca, Zn on Cd salt of a C2-6 aliphatic acid with an oxide. acid, halide or nitrate of As 3 + or 5+ such that the atomic ratio of Mg, Ca, Zn or Cd to As is from 0.7:1 to 5:1. Specified As compounds are As 2 O 3 , As 2 O 5 , As(NO 3 ) 3 , AsF 3 , AsBr 3 , AsCl 3 , AsI 3 , H 3 , AsO 4 and H ASO 3 . The alternative constituent may be cadmium propionate, magnesum butyrate, calcium hexonoate and zinc pentanoate.
