Abstract
1,053,299. Component assemblies; resonators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Nov. 8, 1963 [Nov.15, 1962], No. 43277/62. Headings H1R and H1W. In a tuner arrangement, a resilient helical coil 1 is attached at 12 to a conical electrode 9 which cooperates with a conical inner wall of a metal block 2 to form a variable capacitor. Fig. 1 shows the arrangement adapted for U.H.F. operation; coil 1 forms a helical line resonator loaded with a capacitance which is varied by the axial adjustment by a cam 7 of an insulating rod 3 bearing electrode 9 against the resilience of coil 1. For operation in the V.H.F. band, Fig. 2 (not shown), electrode 9 is maintained in its inner limit position and the inductance of coil 1 is varied by movement within the coil of a ferrite core 11. A non-resilient inductor may additionally be included in the circuit.
