Abstract

The tendency to curl of transparentized photographic paper is reduced by adding a glycol to the solution of synthetic resin used to make it transparent. The paper is impregnated with this solution and the solvent removed by drying. The synthetic resin may be polystyrene, and the solvent a mixture of naphtha and isopropanol. Glycols referred to are: ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, di- and triethylene glycols, dipropylene glycol; butandiols- 1,2, 1,3, and 1,4; pentandiols-1,2, 1,5 and 2,3; and hexandiols-1,6 and 2,3. The paper may be subsequently coated with a diazotype composition (see Division G2).
