Abstract

1,052,450. Distributing railway ballast. F. PLASSER, [trading as FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN]. Oct. 23, 1963 [Nov. 23, 1962], No. 41815/63. Heading E1F. A machine for taking up and distributing railway track ballast has an endless scraper chain 2 mounted for circulation in a plane sloping upwards towards the centre of the track and being vertically adjustable on a vehicle carrying the machine. The scraper chain 2 runs in a conveyer trough 3 having a discharge opening variable in area by pivotal movement of a plate 7; ballast being directed by guide plates 10 and hoppers 9 in regulated quantities to selected regions of the track. The scraper chain 2 is adjustable in its plane of circulation by a fluid pressure jack 11 and in a pivotal sense by a jack 12 and is mounted on a chassis 1 running on the rails 13. A clearing plate 6 is mounted on the conveyer trough to ensure correct profile of the side slope of the ballast bed when the machine is moved along the track.
