Abstract

1,052,432. Controllers. RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFERIES Ltd. May 29. 1964 [April 3. 1963], No. 13200/63. Heading H2B. A cam-shaft controller for an electrically driven vehicle comprises a cam drum 23 operating in succession switches 37 in banks 38, 39 and 40 and having a rotary dashpot 20 mounted for rotation therewith to retard rotation of the cam drum 23 in the direction of increased speed of the vehicle. Switches 37 in the same bank are arranged in pairs (Fig. 3, not shown) for operation by cam steps 28 (Figs. 3, 4, not shown), on cam drum 23. An accelerator pedal is secured to one end of a Bowden cable 50 connected through a spring coupling 51 (Fig. 1, not shown), to the cam drum 23 and is movable against pedal return springs 57. From the spring coupling 51 an operating rod 64 is connected by a ball-andsocket joint to lug 29 (or lug 30) on cam drum 23. Switches 37 are micro-switches.
