Abstract

1,052,401. Pipe coupling. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 2, 1964 [June 4, 1963], No. 22132/63. Heading F2G. A hose and end fitting comprises a flexible hose 18, e.g. of rubber or plastics material having a reinforcing layer 19, e.g. of woven textile material and if required an outer covering 20, with the outer covering and reinforcing layer removed at one end thereof to define a lip 21 and a fitting comprising a ferrule 10 with internal ribs 11 and steps 12, 13 and a sleeve 15 with a flange 16. The sleeve is inserted into the hose and the ferrule fitted over the hose and the ferrule is then swaged inwardly to grip the hose behind the lip 21 and to cause the step 12 to be deformed to grip the lip and form a pocket having a narrow mouth opening.
