Abstract

1,051,504. Pencil leads and crayons. J. F. GROS. July 6, 1965 [July 10, 1964], No. 28548/65. Heading B6P. [Also in Division C3] Marking substances for writing or drawing on paper, board, slate, stone, metal, plastic material, leather or hide are prepared by extruding compositions comprising 30 to 60 weight per cent of a mixture of " low pressure " polyethylene and " high pressure " polyethylene, together with a plasticizer, pigment and loading materials. The extrudate may be used as such, or may be varnished or used as the core of a conventional pencil with wood, paper or plastic jacket. Specified plasticizers are petroleum, vegetable, bees and synthetic waxes, vegetable and animal oils and fatty acid metal soaps. Specified pigments are lead chromate, ferricyanides, aluminium, graphite, acetylene black and organic pigments. Specified loading materials are talc, kaolin, bentonite, Kieselguhr and metal oxides, carbonates and sulphates.
