Abstract
1,051,501. Collapsible dams; clamps. N. M. IMBERTSON & L. E. TABOR. May 5, 1965, No. 19041/65. Heading E2B and E1H. A collapsible dam 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) of pliant material comprising a section 14 forming a floor and a section 15 is secured to the foundation 11 by clamping devices 12, 12'. As shown in Fig. 3 each clamping device for securing the thin skinned structure 15, e.g. to a plate 27 comprises a member 22 having a portion 39 which presses against the plate, an arm 24 extending from said member and rounded at its end 29 to grip the structure. The member 22 is secured by a bolt 26 and has an arm 23 engaging the plate 27. The plate has a longitudinal bump 27A and forms with the arm 24 a cavity 37 into which a perforated, deformable tubular member 38 containing a solid rod 42 is inserted, the extremity of the structure 15 being wrapped round said tubular member. A hard setting adhesive such as an epoxy type cement is injected through holes 32 and 44 in the arm 24 and structure 15 and the holes 40 in the tubular member 38 to fill the space in cavity 37 and hollow portion 49 of said member 38.
