Abstract

1,051,473. Mixing dough. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. March 25, 1964 [April 3, 1963], No. 12668/64. Heading B1C. [Also in Division B5] A dough developer 28 comprises a chamber 30 having an impeller 50 with a clearance of at least “ inch from the chamber wall and rotated by a variable speed drive (as shown, the motor 38) at a speed between 1,000 and 10,000 r.p.m. The impeller comprises two rectangular plates as at 56 with perforations 66, and two tapering plates as at 52 which urge the mixture towards a discharge orifice 70 the size of which is adjustable by slides 74. The dough then passes between counter-rotating metering rolls 88, 90, the speed and separation of which is adjustable, and between doctor blades 92, and is then divided by crankoperated cutters 94, 96. The frequency of operation of the cutters is adjustable to control the length of the dough strips, which drop into pans P on a conveyer C. The apparatus is adaptable for batch or continuous operation; the dough developer may be arranged vertically as shown, or horizontally. The quantity of dough in the developer is controlled by the metering of the ingredients and the size of the orifice 70 so that the dough does not rise above the impeller 50.
