Abstract

1,050,839. Valves. GROVE VALVE & REGULATOR CO. Sept. 6, 1965 [Sept. 8, 1964]. No. 38015/65. Heading F2V. An expansible sleeve gas flow regulating valve has means for limiting deformation of the sleeve to avoid vibration and damage. A core sleeve 22, aligned with inlet and outlet passages 16, 20 in housing 12, has two axially spaced series of inlet and outlet slots 30, 34 on opposite sides of a barrier 28. A sealing surface 38 near the barrier is engaged by the resilient sleeve 40 which is subject to a control pressure in a chamber 47. An expansion restricting surface 54 closely surrounding the sleeve extends axially from the outlet ends of the sleeve and core to a plane intermediate the ends of the outlet slots. This surface is blended into an expansion limiting surface 48 of the chamber by an outwardly tapered, preferably frusto-conical surface 60. Relative dimensions for optimum performance are given.
