Anemometers; thermometers.-In meters for measuring the flow of fluids by means comprising an electric heating-element 17, Fig. 1, and electricresistance thermometer elements 37, the elements are supported by flanged tubes 2, 3, 4, the flanges abutting against each other and being supported by insulating-blocks fixed inside a housing 1, so that the heater and thermometer units may be removed independently through a door 6. The housing is also provided with flanged tubes 9, 10, and the resistance wires of the heater and thermometer units are connected to a switchboard in an external junction box 7. In a modification, an horizontal housing is divided into upper and lower chambers by a partition, and the units are supported in an aperture in the partition. The heater unit comprises a wooden or other insulating-tube with metal flanges 18, Fig. 7, and a resistance wire 17 supported by cross-bars 21 and hooks 19 embedded in insulating-material 20. The wire is connected in any desired fashion to conducting- rods 23 carried by non-conducting rods 22, flexible leads 24 being connected to a gas-tight terminal comprising a base 26. Fig. 9, metal and porcelain bushes 28, 29 respectively, conducting-pins 31 carrying nuts 32, and leads 33, lead washers being disposed between the parts. A thermometer unit comprises a flanged tube within which is mounted a ring 40, Fig. 11, with a diametrical bar 42, on which is supported a tube 32 enclosing the resistance wire, which consists of strands in series, and liquid or solid insulating-material. The terminal is provided with a chamber formed by a bush 43 and a disk 44 of insulating-material, into which the insulating-liquid overflows on rise of temperature.
