Abstract
1,050,577. Door &c guards; extensible rods; pneumatic sucker fasteners; clamps. W. G. PULLEN. Aug. 31, 1964 [May 31, 1963], No. 21882/63. Headings EIJ, E1S, E2A and E2B. An extensible bar, e.g. a curtain rod or for the top of a safety gate removably secured between two walls or posts, it comprises a bar 14 longitudinally movable within an outer bar 13 by means of a toggle consisting of two links 18 pivoted to the outer bar 13 and two links 19 pivoted at 21 e.g. through slots in the outer bar to the inner bar 14, the links 18, 19 being pivoted together at 20 and maintained in parallel relationship by an inverted-U bracket 23 which fits around the outer bar 13 when the links are depressed to extend the bar 14 out of the bar 13. A bar 14 may be provided at each end of the outer bar 13, the bars 14 being pivotally connected to respective pairs of links which are pivotally connected and positioned centrally on the bar 13. One of the links 18 is extended to form an operating handle 24, 25 and the outer end of the bar 14 and the opposite end of the bar 13 may be provided with suction cups 16. The gate comprises bars 12 secured to a bottom cross-bar provided with suction feet.
