Abstract

A balloon-limiter for spinning re machines, of circular or polygonal section and comprising one or more strips of resilient sheet material, is detachably secured to a cube-shaped housing of a width not exceeding that of a spinning-station and having a threading-slot in its front wall and an opening in its base for the spindle and its associated parts and an opening in its top for the insertion of the limiter, the limiter being detachably secured at one or more of the upper edge of the opening, at the base of the housing or at the edges of the slot. The support may be secured by its rear or bottom wall to a spindle or other rail of the machine directly or by brackets, adjacent supports having packing between them. The limiter is secured to the housing by a flange engaging a rim of the upper opening; it may thus be freely suspended inside the housing or its base may be attached to the base of the housing or its longitudinal edges attached to the edges of the threading-slot. In the case of a double-twist spindle, Fig. 3, not shown, the lower aperture of the housing is such as to take the rotor and storage-disc and the wharve, but is sealed off by a plate secured to the bottom of the housing and carrying the fixing-brackets. The upper aperture is big enough to receive the package carrier and a conical package carrier to slip over the spindle. Magnets which immobilize the package are located half-way up the protector of the carrier and the cooperating counter-magnets are located correspondingly on the inside of the holder. The resilience of the limiter and its method of mounting enable it to be self-centering and to be readily removable from the holder.
