Abstract

1,049,833. Change speed gear. GETRIEBEWERK GOTHA VEB. May 21, 1963, No. 20160/63. Heading F2D. In a two-speed and reverse gear for a marine vessel of the kind wherein output carried stepped planets 3, 4, 5 and a planet pinion 10 intermeshed with the planet pinion 3 respectively mesh an input sun gear 2 and ring gears 7, 6, 8 which latter are selectively held to provide two forward and reverse ratios, the planet carrier is formed in two parts 11, 12 which may be rotated relative to one another to bring the pinion 10 into mesh with the pinion 3. The relative rotation between the two parts of carrier permits the pinions 2, 3 to be replaced by pinions of different sizes thus changing the ratio range of the gear. The pinions 4 ... 7 may be replaced by pinions of different sizes to change the ratio step between the two forward ratios. The two parts of the carrier may be bolted together, Fig. 3 (not shown), the bolts passing with clearance through the shafts of the pinions 10 so that when the bolts are slackened the two parts of the carrier are permitted limited relative rotation.
