Abstract

1,048,750. Treating tobacco. G. H. BOWEN Ltd. Oct. 28, 1965 [Nov. 4, 1964], No. 45042/64. Heading A2C. Tobacco or the like to be processed is placed on an articulated and apertured platform 14 of a conveyer 11 which conveys it through an opening 15 in a chamber 10. The door of the opening is then closed and a treating medium e.g. air or steam, is passed through the apertures of the platform and through the tobacco. After treatment the tobacco is withdrawn through the opening or through a closeable opening in the other end of the chamber. The articulated platform may be made from perforated plates, spaced bars or tubes or solid rails having clearances between their meeting edges.
