Abstract

A benzoguanamine - melamine - formaldehyde moulding composition is prepared by (a) reacting benzoguanamine and formaldehyde at a pH of 9 or slightly above to form a monomeric reaction product and (b) further reacting the product of (a) with melamine to form a heat curable hydrophilic syrup, and (c) adding a polymerization catalyst (e.g. MgBr2) to the syrup obtained in (b). a -Cellulose may be added to the product to form a moulding powder.
