Abstract

Inhalers and respirators. - A cup d, Fig. 1, containing a sponge g treated with some suitable mendicament to neutralize deleterious fumes, and retained by a perforated sheet h secured by cross-strips i, is provided with a breathing-tube f and is secured to the front of a smoke helmet or gas mask a. The exhaled air escapes through the material of the mask, if porous, or through a non-return valve. In a mask for the nose and mouth only, the cup d, Fig. 5, is used preferably without the breathing-tube, and a non-return valve m is inserted in the metal body of the mask, which is strapped round the wearer and is lined with flexible material j, such as rubber.
