Abstract

1,046,813. Laminates and laminating. NIWA MACHINERY CO. Ltd. April 1, 1964, No. 13465/64. Heading B5N. In apparatus for making doublefaced corrugated board i.e. corrugated board faced on both sides with flat sheet material, wherein the double-faced board is fed through the space defined by a row of heating plates 63 and an endless conveyer 64, a pressing and drying arrangement is included comprising a row of fluid chambers 75 open on their undersides arranged along the surface of the conveyer, and a blower for supplying fluid under pressure to the chambers whereby a constant pressure is applied uniformly to the upper surface of the corrugated board through the thickness of the conveyer belt. As shown, a flat liner fed over roll 60 and a heating roll 61 meets already formed singlefaced corrugated board to which glue has been applied passing over roller 62 and becomes glued thereto. The double-faced corrugated board is then guided between the heating plates 63 and conveyer 64. Air from a blower 79 is forced through a pipe 80 and then into the chamber 75 to apply uniform pressure to the corrugated board through the thickness of the conveyer which is of porous material. The air is discharged through spaces at the edge of the board into channels between the heating plates leading to ducts 84 into a main duet 85 and from there into a pipe 86 from which the air is returned to the blower through a valve 87. Elastic material 88 secured around the edges of each air chamber minimizes air leakage.
